Water Regulation 4 Compliance- WRAS, Kiwa UK Water Regulation 4 (KUKreg4), NSFreg4 and BSI Kitemark Reg4
For water installations in the UK, the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 will need to be complied with. In respect of Water fittings and their requirements, reference should be made to Regulation 4, where Regulation 4(1) refers to ‘every water fitting should be of an appropriate quality or standard’ and also Regulation 4(2) provides the options to demonstrate compliance i.e. CE Marking where applicable, Appropriate British or European standards, and also a specification approved by the regulator.

Hygienic requirements for materials and components BS6920
BS 6920 testing is a UK standard used to assess whether non-metallic materials and components that come into contact with drinking water are suitable for use without adversely affecting water quality.
The five tests covered under BS 6920 are:
- Odour and flavour of water
- Appearance of water
- Growth of aquatic microorganisms
- Extraction of substances that may be of concern to public health
- Metal extraction tests (where applicable)
BS 6920 compliance is frequently required to support:
- Water Regulation 4 compliance (WRAS, Kiwa UK Regulation 4, NSF Regulation 4 and BSI Kitemark Regulation 4)
- Water company acceptance requirements, including Regulation 31

DWI Regulation 31
DWI Regulation 31 (commonly referred to as Regulation 31 or Reg 31) is a legal requirement under the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 (England). It governs the approval of products and chemicals used by public water suppliers that come into contact with drinking water, ensuring they do not compromise water quality or consumer health.
Regulation 31 approval applies to products used by water companies throughout the entire water supply chain – from the water source, through treatment works and distribution networks, to the point where drinking water enters the consumer's property.

TMV2 Testing & Certification
TMV2 (Thermostatic Mixing Valve Type 2) is a UK product approval scheme that demonstrates a thermostatic mixing valve has been independently tested and certified to provide safe, stable water temperatures in domestic and similar applications, helping to reduce the risk of scalding.
TMV2 certification is widely recognised by housebuilders, local authorities, social housing providers and plumbing specifiers. Products are tested against the requirements of BS EN 1111, BS EN 1287, or both, depending on the product type and intended application.

TMV3 (Thermostatic Mixing Valve Type 3) testing and certification is a UK scheme for thermostatic mixing valves used in healthcare and other high-risk environments where vulnerable users require enhanced protection against scalding. TMV3 certification demonstrates that a valve has been independently tested and approved to meet stringent performance and fail-safe requirements. Testing of these products is undertaken against DoH HTM 04-01 Supplement D08.

G3 Unvented Water Heating Certification
G3 Unvented Water Heating Testing and Certification is the process of independently testing and certifying unvented hot water storage systems to demonstrate compliance with UK Building Regulation G3 – Hot Water Supply and Systems. The purpose is to ensure these products operate safely under pressure and protect users from the risks associated with overheating and excessive pressure.
Testing is generally carried out against BS EN 12897, the principal European standard for indirectly heated, unvented closed hot water storage water heaters.
